Canberra Feature a huge success

The dorking feature at the Royal National Canberra Poultry Show this June long weekend was a roaring success, with some 1200 entrants overall, and over 80 dorkings. Large Silver Greys were the dominant variety, with a good selection of Reds, Whites, Darks, and Red Blues. The bantam bench held some Silver Greys and Cuckoos. Feedback from other exhibitors and the general public was very positive, and Mr Guy Wales, the judge, commented on the good quality of the Silver Greys while acknowledging the work breeders need to do to bring the rarer colours up to the same standard. Champion Dorking of Show was a stately Silver Grey cock owned by Mr Bert Tolley, and Reserve Champion Dorking was a nice solid Silver Grey hen, also owned by Bert Tolley. Full result listings are available at https://www.rncas.org.au/Poultry2/site/results.php. Thanks to the tireless members of the committee and the Canberra Queanbeyan Poultry Club for a well organised and enjoyable show.
